Job Type: Part-time

Location: Remote (South Africa)

Remuneration: R25,000 - R35,000 per month

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Part-Time Remote Bookkeeper to support a dynamic UK-based property development company. This role is perfectly suited for a highly organised finance professional with a proven track record in managing multi-entity accounts, working closely with the founder to ensure precise financial records, aid in lender reporting, and continuously optimise bookkeeping processes. If you excel in Xero and Excel, possess a solid grasp of financial best practices, and thrive in an independent remote environment, this is an excellent chance to contribute significantly to a growing UK business from your home in South Africa.

Role Overview:

As the Part-Time Remote Bookkeeper, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of multiple entities. Your expertise will be key in managing comprehensive financial records, producing critical reports for lenders, and providing valuable insights into budget performance. This position demands a keen eye for detail and the ability to work autonomously, ensuring precision and consistency in all financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain impeccably accurate financial records across five distinct entities using Xero, seamlessly integrated with Dext and Cresco.

  • Execute monthly bank and invoice reconciliations with precision.

  • Utilise or rapidly acquire proficiency in tools such as Fathom for robust cash flow forecasting.

  • Prepare and submit detailed monthly drawdown schedules essential for development finance.

  • Compile and dispatch accurate and timely lender reports, including comprehensive Excel schedules and invoice packs.

  • Rigorously track and analyse cost variances between initial fee proposals and actual invoices.

  • Provide direct support to the founder in analysing budget versus actual performance across various development projects.

  • Assist in the meticulous management of data derived from appraisal spreadsheets and financial forecasts.

  • Proactively identify workflow inefficiencies and propose strategic improvements within finance processes.

  • Minimise manual oversight by ensuring an unwavering commitment to precision and consistency in all financial procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of dedicated bookkeeping experience, ideally within a multi-entity setting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel (this is a non-negotiable requirement).

  • Strong analytical capabilities and a proven ability to work independently.

  • Comfortable and experienced in collaborating with UK-based clients, demonstrating familiarity with UK financial systems.

  • Reliable access to a personal laptop and a stable internet connection.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience in construction or property development finance.

  • Familiarity with Dext, Cresco, and Fathom (or a demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly).

  • Exposure to drawdown schedules, lender reporting, and an understanding of quantity surveying principles.
